Little Black Dress, Suit and Tie.

A few saturdays ago I had the nicest evening.
It was a close friend of mine, Joanne's 21st Birthday, so to celebrate she had a black tie themed birthday party at Kingsweston House in Bristol.
Firstly the building was beautiful, I'd like to go there one day with my camera as everything inside, and out was stunning. Alongside that it was nice to have an excuse to dress up, I feel I don't often to get to dress up now, an excuse to do so once in a while is always appreciated.
I opted for this little black sequin number from H&M and detail shoes with studded detail on the heels from M&S (I've looked, unfortunately neither are available now).

It was such a lovely night, everyone looked fantastic and all were in great spirits. There was such a lovely atmosphere and a good crowd of close friends, and to top off a lovely night, Jo's boyfriends Tom (another very close friend of mine) got down on one knee! Very exciting!

Such a lovely night, and because of that I wanted to share some of the photos on here - unfortunately I didn't get too many as I was busy enjoying myself, and they are all just iphone snaps so that quality might not be the best - nonetheless, enjoy.

Such a lovely night, definitely one I will remember!
I'd like to wish a massive congratulation to Tom and Jo.

War Horse

If you read my blog regularly (are there any of you?!) you'll remember a few weeks back I spent the weekend in London (blogpost here) with my Mum and Auntie to see War Horse.
Unfortunately I only managed to get a few sneaky iphone photos as I wasn't too sure if I was allowed to be taking photographs so didn't want to whack out my DSLR, plus I also wanted to watch the show rather than see it purely through a camera lens - so apologies the photos with this blog post aren't the greatest and don't do the show much justice.

I went to see  War Horse, completely blind as I have never watched the film or read the book so I didn't really know what to expect, although  if I'm completely honest I'll say my expectations weren't that high. I assumed the story of War Horse was going to be very predictable, I mean the title War Horse pretty much gives it away right? What more could there be to it than a horse which goes to war?
Well I've got to say I was pretty wrong about that. There was more to the story than I expected. I was hooked on the story from start to finish. What impressed me most was how the story was told.

There weren't many props, at all (besides the horse of course... does that count as a prop or a costume?). The stage was close to empty. There wasn't all that much speaking, and a lot of the speaking wasn't in English.

As for the horse, it was not at all what I had expected - there were two horses used for the main horse - the young horse and the adult horse. Both of the horses looked like a simple skeleton of a horse, in which you could see the people controlling it, especially with the young horse where the people controlling it were stood besides the horse. At the beginning I thought 'well this is going to be distracting, I can see that it's not a horse', how wrong was I?! The movement of the horse were so realistic, it wasn't long at all until the people controlling the horse became invisible and I began to feel attached to the horse.

The only real means of telling the story was the acting, which is exactly what I loved about the show. You could see how talented the actor were,  to tell the story so greatly that the audience felt an attachment to it's characters.

At the end of the show when the actors came to take a bow, you could see the emotions on actors faces, especially the gentleman who played the main character so well, he was in tears, which strangely was lovely to see as you could really see the importance of the show to the people involved.

I would strongly recommend going to see this if you have a chance. It was brilliant.
If you get the chance I'd strongly recommend going to see it!

March Favourites

March has quickly came to an end, seriously, how fast is this year going?!
Throughout the past month I found myself falling in love with some bits and pieces. Unlike my usual favourites, there aren't many beauty/skincare products, as I've mainly been sticking to the same things. I have however found myself enjoy lots of others things, so here they are:

Apologies, I have posted a few of these bits on my blog already, naturally as they are my favourites I've wanted to blog about them.

Daisy Eau So Fresh by Marc Jacobs - I got this perfume from my Mum for Christmas. I think half the reason she bought it for me was probably because of the packaging as I love daisies. However I've been wearing it a lot more as we go into Spring as I think the scent in nice and fresh, perfect for this time of year and I've also noticed I have had a lot of compliments whilst I've been wearing it, so it's slowly becoming my go to perfume! I'm not going to try to describe the scent to you anymore, as I'm awful at describing scents, so I'll just say go and give it a smell if you're looking for a Spring scent.

Kate Spade Phone Case -  as I recently go an iphone 6 and needed a case, I decided to splash out and get a Kate Spade case as I'm a little in love with all things Kate Spade (wishlist here), and this case is just so damn cute. I came across a few similar ones before I settled. I was stuck between yellow gold with writing saying 'hello sunshine', or rose gold with writing saying 'pretty little thing' - I obviously went for the hello sunshine in the end and I'm so happy with it. I love the saying hello sunshine, and the simple understated look of the case. The reflectiveness is super handy if you need a mirror, however it does scratch easily and smudges are quite visible, but hey you win some, you lose some.
The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstein - I've still not finished this book but still it is fast becoming a favourite of mine. It has been enchanting throughout. Unlike a lot of books, I instantly fell in love with the story and characters, rather than having to read 100 or so pages before the book seems to get anywhere. This book was amazing from the first page!

Coat - Yet again this is an item which I have already featured within another blogpost (here).
I recently got this coat in a charity shop for £15 and I have fallen in love with it. It so unusual, and makes such a statement. The shape and fit are beautiful, the quality is great and the colour is so vibrant and lovely for this time of year.

Writing in my diary - Something I have recently became a little obsessed with is writing in my diary. Most evening I've been taking a little time out to write in my diaries which I find relaxes me and helps me to gather my thoughts. I have two diaries (I told you, obsessed), one is a 2015 day by day diary which has a section for each day, in which I'll record memories in some days. The other is a notebook with I've had for years which I record feelings and emotions in. I've found it so enjoyable to get things down in writing.

Clinique Matt Lipstick in the shade Peony - I'm not going to talk about this one too much as I have already done a full review on this (which you can find here). I'm just going to say I love this lipstick, I think it's super brightening for Spring.

Backpack  - This one has already featured in a blogpost (alongside the coat below). I got this from Urban Outfitter for a trip to India I have coming up, but I love it so much I couldn't resist using it before I went.  I am really enjoying using a backpack rather than a shoulder bag - I forgot carrying a bag didn't need to hurt one shoulder! I think this one is such a classic design I can wear it with anything.

Underwear Set from M&S - Sorry to be posting pictures of my underwear, but I'd be lying if I said this set was one of my March favourites. I got this set from M&S, on sale for half price which was great. I already had this set of underwear in black which I got for christmas, and I found it was the perfect fit on me and is so delicate and pretty, so when I saw the nude version for half the price I couldn't say no. I have actually worn the nude set a lot more that the black as it can be worn under anything.

So that is some bits which sprung to mind when thinking what I'd been loving throughout March, sorry this post doesn't feature much beauty items. I've linked everything I could find online if you wanted to check them out more.
Sorry some of the items and pictures have already featured in other blogposts, I've just really loved the items, and was happy with the photographs I had already taken.
I'd love to hear some of your current favourite bits and bobs.

I hope you all have a lovely March.
